The Team

Skyla Powers – Project Manager & Lead Designer

Skyla is an Atlanta-based land steward & landscape designer with 10+ years experience transforming residential, agricultural, and community properties into intentionally balanced spaces. She is passionate about connection, sense of belonging, and restoration by means of plants as an artistic and spiritual medium. Through founding and developing Fox Natural Connections, she offers environmentally responsible design, consulting, and project development services for homeowners, homesteaders, farmers, and community organizations across urban, suburban, and rural environments.

Skyla holds a Bachelor of Arts from Agnes Scott College, where she studied theory based Political Science and Studio Art. In 2022, she co-developed Fox Gardens, an off-grid homestead in rural Alabama integrating natural building techniques, rainwater harvesting systems, food production, a volunteer-based education program, and more… *See more about Fox Gardens on the Portfolio and Natural Building Projects pages* Skyla’s additional ecological training spans an array of experiences, including working on organic horticulture and vegetable farms in Japan, regenerative livestock farms all over the Southeast, and serving Atlanta residents and communities through services in natural landscaping and professional perennial gardening.

Skyla’s design philosophy is rooted in biodiversity and resilient systems in which support positively meaningful relationships between people, plants, animals, and land. Every project is custom to reflect and enhance the unique character of the site. Projects are based on theory that landscapes can do more than look beautiful, they can restore a sense of belonging to the living world and to something greater than ourselves.

Elin Hill – Community Outreach & Co-Designer

Elin is a landscape designer and writer based in Atlanta, Ga. She has a landscape design certification from Emory and a lifetime of practical knowledge in the garden. While she learned the ins and outs of gardening in Georgia’s specific climate through growing up in her parents’ garden center (check out Autumn Hill when you’re in Woodstock), her true love of gardening comes from summers in her grandmother’s garden in Denmark.  It was in that joyful acre filled to the brim with fruits and flowers she experienced how plants and people connect  and learned that food production and beautiful design can go effortlessly hand-in-hand.

With a background in theatre, early childhood education, and community organizing, human connection is at the forefront of Elin’s work. In 2020, she built Brownwood House, an arts and community organization, that became in many ways a love letter to Atlanta and the incredible people that call this city home. She brings that love and care to her current role as Fox Natural Connections community outreach coordinator.

As a designer she puts emphasis on creating ease and accessibility in the garden while bringing her undeniable passion for edible plants. Her work often features native species, drawing inspiration from the southeast’s stunning natural landscape, alongside a sense of playfulness from her Danish summers. Elin dedicates her time to help folks incorporate fruit into their existing yards,  support new gardeners in their first steps and work with families to build spaces that foster the making of childhood memories filled with berry picking, mud pies, and garden fairies.
